They offer a wide range of streams in engineering. These universities have the scope of awarding a doctorate to their student.

The second type of universities focuses more on the practical application of engineering. The universities of applied sciences work in close collaboration with different industries and engineering firms. They emphasize on providing internship to their students. The students pursuing masters from these universities get joint supervision for their thesis from both the faculty of the university and also from an industry. FHs do not award their students with PhD, but those who have passed out with master degree can apply for the doctorate at any university.
