NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 15: The National Medical Commission Bill, 2017, which is set to take over from the current Medical Council Act, 1956, has been cleared by the Cabinet, as indicated by the sources. According to Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad who is a minister of law and justice, the process of replacing the MCI is done to modify the whole medical industry. At present, the Indian Medical Council is the legal body to preserve the uniformity and high principles of Indian medical education, but, with the presentation of NMC draft bill, the MCI will be changed with a new governing body. Meanwhile, the IMA (Indian Medical Association), the largest organization of Indian doctors demanded the withdrawal of the NMC Bill 2017, claiming it will debilitate the medical profession. The bill to supplant the Medical Council of India (MCI) with a National Medical Commission (NMC) has been alluded to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on medical practice, for audit inside a month. Furious verbal confrontations on the purpose and substance of the bill keep on raging, as commentators criticize it as the attack at the scientific career, fanatics hail it as an extended-awaited redemption of clinical training and supporters of reform seek revisions to eliminate infirmities inside the bill. That is the first time any regulation will permit pass-practising. The bill says once a year, the NMC, the important Council of Homeopathy and the relevant Council of Indian remedy (AYUSH steams) will preserve a joint sitting where they are able to decide whether to provide felony pressure to the permitting provision or not.

There will be a common entrance exam and exam to get a license which all MBBS degree holders need to qualify exit exam for practising licenses in India.
