Since 1996, the trend of getting a degree in Medicine from a foreign university is increasing among Indian students. Though the Indian government has been trying its level best to accommodate as many students as possible for the MBBS degree in the government aided colleges but the number of students appearing for the entrance exam is far beyond the number of seats available. This is one of the main reasons why the majority of the deserving students are unable to get a good education as per their choice. These days, every year, more than 10000 students choose to go to other countries like China, Russia, Europe, UK, and the US among many others to get MBBS degree. Affordable education, good infrastructure, MCI approved courses and a chance to learn from the best in the field are some of the major reasons why students choose to attend colleges in foreign universities. There are great colleges in both Asia and Europe. However, there are some basic differences which include both pros and cons of choosing the universities from these two areas. We have listed down a few basic points which will help you in choosing the right university for you.
When we talk about the education in a foreign university, the first thing that pops into our mind is the cost of the course as well as additional expenses. The cost of education in Asia is much cheaper in comparison to the cost of education in Europe. You can complete the course in less than 12 lakhs in Asia while the cost may go up to Rs.25 lakhs to Rs.35 lakhs depending on the location in Europe.
In this case, the colleges in Europe are better. Most of the areas which have MCI approved courses in Europe have English as their first language which makes it easier for the Indian students to adopt the culture and study patterns more easily. However, in case of Asia, most of the countries have the courses available in their native languages and those who have courses in English charges a good amount for the language selection as well.
The countries in Asia are much cheaper in comparison to the countries in Europe. You can live with as low as Rs.50000 per year in Asia while in Europe the living expenses may go up to 2 to 3 lakhs per annum easily.
Majority of the colleges in Europe are well equipped with the latest technology and best course material as they have to follow a standard set of rules as per their local governments. Though the colleges in Asia are also well equipped, in some cases they fall a little behind. There can be a hundred different reasons which play a role in your decision to select a particular university. It is always better to learn about the university, country, food, weather, culture etc. before finalizing. You can take help of a good education consultant as well.
